Defender has played one minute of first-team football

Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji is expected to leave the club this month with Bundesliga side Stuttgart a likely destination.

The 27-year-old centre-back was brought to Chelsea on Transfer Deadline Day over the summer after the Premier League side agreed to pay Nantes £2.5million, but since then he has played one minute for the first-team and that was in the Capital One Cup against League One side Walsall.

Djilobodji signed a three-year contact at Stamford Bridge as the Blues made two defensive signings on the Deadline Day after missing out on John Stones and Marquinhos from Everton and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

Djilobodji Not Wanted

However, following the dramatic day, Jose Mourinho admitted that the Senegalese centre-back wasn’t one of his signings, and he was forced to sign the player by technical director Michael Emenalo.

With no first-team football in the pipeline for Djilobodji, the centre-back looks set to complete a long-term loan deal to Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart.

Despite the managerial change, the defender still isn’t in first-team plans at Stamford Bridge.
