The Goalkeeper will leave Juventus this summer

Paris Saint-Germain will target the Champions League as their main goal next season and will look to make marquee signings this summer, while navigating the Financial Fair Play constraints under which they are currently operating.

The Ligue 1 giants are interested in signing Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon on a free transfer this summer. They want him to provide competition to their first choice goalkeeper Alphonse Aerola and also to mentor the young goalkeeper who is rated very highly by the club.

And they have taken the first steps in trying to entice the 40-year-old to France, with the Ligue 1 champions having made an offer of €8 million-per-year, almost double his current salary.

The Italy International will leave the Turin Side this summer after a 17 year spell at the club. He joined the club from Parma in 2011 for €52 million becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in the history, the record is still intact and has won 9 Serie A titles with them.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hinted a deal for Buffon by claiming that the veteran goalkeeper would benefit any club but has insisted that Aerola will remain the first choice goalkeeper next season.

“Buffon is a fantastic goalkeeper. But Areola is our starter and he will be next season as well,” Al-Khelaifi told L’Equipe.

“You know me well – do you really think I’d tell you which players we are monitoring?

“Now we have Areola. He is our number one for the coming season.

“Buffon is a fantastic goalkeeper, charismatic, a great guy. I’m sure that any club would want him.”
