Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford has hit out at Crystal Palace after an unsuccessful loan-spell at Selhurst Park.
The 22-year-old has spent previous seasons out on loan in the Championship, with the likes of Derby County and Middlesbrough, but this year he agreed a season-long loan with Premier League outfit Palace.
However, just a few months into the deal and he’s announced his decision to terminate the deal and return to his parent club.
Bamford has failed to register a single start for Alan Pardew this season, and following the club’s 0-0 draw with Swansea City last night, he hit out at the club for wasting his time.
“It has been terrible,” he said. “I would have been more content if I had been given a chance and not taken it.
“I haven’t started a game in the Premier League, so for a young player like me that is not what you need.
“I was frustrated because there weren’t many strikers scoring. Connor [Wickham] only scored his first goal last week.
“As a striker, it might be short-sighted of me but obviously scoring goals is a striker’s job. If you are not playing and the other strikers are not scoring and you are not getting a chance, obviously I was pulling my hair out.”
