The Juventus midfielder was constantly linked with a return to the Premier League in the summer with both United and Chelsea showing an interest.

It was understood that £60m would be enough for the Old Lady to sell, having snapped up the 21-year-old on a free two seasons ago after being released at Old Trafford.

But Pogba stayed put, and now the Serie A champions are looking to reward his loyalty with a bumper new contract.

The offer on the table will see the France international stay until 2018, with an option for another year.

As part of that agreement, Pogba will see his wages rise from £1.2m a campaign to £3.6m.

United and Chelsea are both expected to renew their interest in the January transfer window, but will have to look elsewhere if Juventus do enough to tempt the central midfielder to sign.
