Man United are to offer Phil Jones a new contract at Man United. the Red Devils see the defender as vital to the club’s future. Jones is believed to want to extend his current deal, which runs out in two years time.

Talks have not yet begun regarding a new contract but David Moyes hopes to open talks at the end of the current campaign. The defender would see a rise on his current £50,000 a week wages, with his status growing because of the expected departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

Moyes wants to pair Smalling at the back with Jones next season and he believes they can be a future England pairing as well. But However, Jones desire to throw himself into tackles has seen him get himself injured on five separate occasions this season and he and Smalling have only played together once before, in the 3-0 win over West Brom earlier this month.

Despite all this, Jones does believe the pairing will ‘click’. I’m sure Red Devils fans everywhere and the club itself will be hoping he is right.
