Gus Poyet signed as manager of Sunderland on the 8th October and was not welcomed warmly to the Premier League when he and Sunderland was hammered by Swansea 4-0. If Sunderland losing 4-0 to Swansea wasn’t bad enough 2 of the goals were own goals scored by Sunderland players Phillip Bardsley & Steven Fletcher. Jonathan De Guzman & Wilfried Bony scored the other goals for Swansea.

Gus Poyet took over Sunderland in a very difficult season after previous manager Paolo Di Canio had left the club in bottom place with only a single point prior to his sacking. Every loss for Sunderland makes Guy Poyet’s job to avoid relegation more difficult. Previously he took Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion to the Playoff Semi-Finals losing to Crystal Palace. The only managerial experience he has is being manager of a Championship side the league below the Premier League so this meant that the new Sunderland manager maybe a bit unqualified for the job.
