Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are both willing to spend up to £65million for FC Porto centre-back’s Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi.

The two have developed a strong partnership in Portugal and have both been watched by scouts from the English clubs with both of them prepared to spend big in order to capture them both.

It is believed that Otamendi is worrth around £25million, whilst Mangala is worth up to £40million.

Old Trafford chief executive Ed Woodward has already told manager David Moyes that his priorities in the next transfer window should be to sign a new centre-back and also a new left-back, with the latter possibly being Everton’s Leighton Baines.

However, United will face serious competition from their fierce-rivals as Manuel Pellegrini still wants to mark his stamp on the City side after taking over from Roberto Mancini this Summer.
