French side Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Chelsea defender David Luiz for an undisclosed fee.

The deal was all set to go through a few weeks ago, but the deal hadn’t been confirmed until today when PSG made the formal announcement that the Brazilian will be joining the club after the World Cup.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the French side, and it’s believed PSG will be paying The Blues roughly £40million for the centre-back.

Despite the Financial Fair Play ruling coming in, that hasn’t prevented PSG from spending big, and it’s widely reported that they are prepared to spend more.

After securing the move, Luiz has spoken to the club’s official website and has revealed his delight at signing for Laurent Blanc’s side.

“Right from the very first contact I had with Paris St-Germain, I was very happy,” Luiz told the club’s website.

“It’s a big club with a great history. It’s a new step in my life and I’m impatient to play for Paris and show what I can do.”
