Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has been tipped to replace Brendan Rodgers, it has emerged.

Rodgers is seemingly under-fire at the Reds after a surprisingly poor start to the Premier League season, following a summer of change at Anfield.

The Northern Irish manager guided Liverpool to a second placed finish, however the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona has hit the club hard over the summer months.

He sustained further pressure following Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, with Rafael Benitez now a shock candidate to replace him.

Benitez enjoyed a six year spell at Liverpool, and famously won the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul, where the Reds defeated AC Milan on penalties following a 3-3 draw.

The Spaniard also won an FA Cup in 2006, whilst with the Merseyside club.
