Liverpool star, Raheem Sterling, has rejected a contract extension from the club, just 48 hours after their elimination from the Champions League.

The Reds crashed out of the group stages after being held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Swiss side, FC Basel, and the club’s week has got worse with the news that Sterling WILL NOT be signing a new deal.

Sterling has been in talks with the club since the Summer regarding a new deal involving a pay-rise due to his development over the past two season.

However, a £40k-a-week pay-rise has been deemed unacceptable by Sterling and his representatives.

The 20-year-old, who currently sits on £30k-a-week, has been offered a new contract worth £70k-a-week, but according to sources, that offer has been deemed as ‘nowhere near acceptable’.

Despite the initial setback, Liverpool officials are confident that they will secure a long-term deal for their star winger.
