European champions, Real Madrid, are the latest side to enter the race for Athletic Bilbao defender, Aymeric Laporte.

The 20-year-old defender has attracted interest from Premier League sides, Manchester United and Arsenal, but according to reports in Spain, Madrid have now thrown their name into the hat and are now considering a Summer move for the Frenchman.

However, if either of the trio want to land Laporte, they will have to cough up £31.4million, which is what the defender’s release clause is in his contract.

Spanish reports are claiming that Bilbao won’t sell the centre-back for anything less than his release clause.

Madrid are keen to find a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos and Pepe, whilst United and Arsenal are also in the market for a new defender, despite The Gunners closing in on Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal.
