Real Madrid Ignorance Forces Tottenham Ace To Reconsider Contract Extension

Christian Eriksen seemed to have made up his mind about leaving Tottenham Hotspur once the 2018/19 season got over but the Dane is apparently reconsidering his decision.

His contract with Spurs is set to run for another season with an extension not agreed upon yet. The North London outfit expressed interest in re-signing him, even offering him a heavy pay raise but Eriksen chose to stall on the offer.

He even hinted that he was not interested in signing a new deal when he revealed that he was seeking a fresh challenge. Eriksen’s time with the North London outfit has eclipsed his status as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier Leauge.

After drawing various links with Real Madrid, the 27-year-old had hoped that an offer from the La Liga giant would come in by now. The Galacticos instead have restrengthened their creative lineup with the addition of Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

It is improbable that Real would splash out another £100m to sign Eriksen when they already have Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco and Marcos Asensio, all of whom have succeeded under Zinedine Zidane before.

This has prompted the Tottenham midfielder to go back and claim his star role in Mauricio Pochettino’s setup. He can expect to sign a new contract worth €6m per year.

However, the report claims that Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy is open to selling the playmaker if a bid of £70m or higher comes in this summer.
