Real Madrid have signed Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, the club have confirmed. 

Navas, aged 27 has penned a six year deal at the Bernabeu, and is set to compete with both Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas for the number one jersey. 

The keeper, who impressed for La Liga side Levante caught the attention of the world at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil. 

Navas played a key role as Costa Rica reached the quarter finals of the tournament. 

A written statement on the Madrid website read:

“Real Madrid CF and Levante UD have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Keylor Navas, who is linked to the club over the next six seasons. 

“The player will be presented on Tuesday, August 5, at 13:00CET at the Bernabeu, after undergoing the relevant medical examination.”
