Rodney Marsh has told TalkSPORT that Arsenal have had a bid for Karim Benzema accepted by Real Madrid.
The former-footballer was speaking to TalkSPORT over the phone and he confirmed that a close source of his, who is never wrong when it comes to transfer news, has stated that Madrid have accepted a bid from The Gunners.
Marsh has said that the fee in question is around £48million, which would break Arsenal‘s current transfer record of £42m, which is what they paid for Mesut Ozil from the same club.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Benzema all summer, with Arsene Wenger a huge admirer of the striker, and according to Marsh, the deal could be very close.
He said: “I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.
“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Marsh also revealed that the source of his was the first to break the news about Yaya Toure being unhappy at Manchester City last summer.
