Liverpool winger Sadio Mane believes they have a very good chance to repeat last season’s feat in the Champions League. The Reds failed to conquer the last hurdle as Real Madrid got the better of them in a closely contested final.

Mane played a pivotal part last season as Liverpool’s free-flowing and pressing football earned rave reviews. The trio of Roberto Firmino, Mane and Mohamed Salah inflicted damage on a number of top European sides with the likes of AS Roma, Manchester City and Porto as they fluently made their way to the Champions League final.

Nobody expected them to be in the final but the Reds exceeded all expectations last season and with the arrival of Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson the English side are even stronger.

Mane said, “It was a very big sign for us. It was a bonus for us to learn and get those kinds of experiences.

“We have played [big games] already and we know how. Now we have to do the same work on the pitch and the experience we had in the past will help.

“It’s very early to speak about it but it’s why we’re always here working: to do anything possible. We have the quality and everything to go throughout [the tournament], so why not? Why not?”
