Here is our Team of the Week after the latest Premier League game-week

After yet another thrilling weekend in the Premier League, it’s time to put together our Team of the Week.

Stand-out performances from Manchester City, Southampton and Arsenal see all of them have at players in the starting XI thanks to impressive wins over Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester United respectively.

Who else makes the XI though?

Time to find out!

Goalkeeper – Heurelho Gomes – Watford

A penalty save which gives your side a point means you deserve to be in the Team of the Week.

We could have gone with Simon Mignolet or Petr Cech, who both made some stand-out and important saves, but thanks to his penalty save to give Watford a vital point away at Bournemouth, we’ve gone with Gomes.

As well as the penalty, he also made five saves to keep the Cherries at bay.

Often clumsy, but not this week.

Defender – Glen Johnson – Stoke City

Often joked about due to his decline at Liverpool, but Glen Johnson is enjoying his football once again at Stoke City.

A vital three points against Aston Villa on Saturday at Villa Park and Johnson certainly played his part in the game.

A solid clean-sheet for Mark Hughes‘ men and a crucial three points gained after a slow start to the season.

Johnson maybe re-finding his former-self?

Defender – Gabriel Paulista – Arsenal

What a player he’s turning into for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

Came in for the game yesterday due to Laurent Koscielny‘s hamstring injury and looked unbreakable alongside Per Mertesacker.

All the talk before the game was about Anthony Martial‘s pace causing the Arsenal defence problems, and although the striker got himself about a bit, he didn’t really effect the game.

Has Wenger finally found another reliable centre-back?

Defender – Scott Dann – Crystal Palace

Another impressive Crystal Palace victory and another game where Scott Dann has shined at centre-back.

Only three teams kept clean-sheets over the weekend and Palace were one of them with Dann once again being his commanding self in the heart of the back-line.

It could be yet another successful season for Palace and with Dann leading from the back, they shouldn’t have many relegation thoughts right now.

Right-Midfield – Sadio Mane – Southampton

He caused Chelsea problems last year during the 1-1 draw at St Marys, and he caused them loads of problems once again on Saturday.

This time he was rewarded greater though with a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge and all game he was a real handful to Gary Cahill, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.

His pace and strength makes him a real threat to defenders and he ran the Blues‘ back-line ragged all afternoon.

Fully deserved his goal and also managed to net himself an assist for the team.

Centre-Midfield – Christian Eriksen – Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen showed his real class once again yesterday with a sensational brace against Swansea City.

The Dane was superb last season along with Harry Kane, but just like the striker, he hasn’t really shown it this season, until yesterday.

Two goals, two great-goals and a major reason why Spurs came away with a point from the Liberty Stadium.

If Eriksen can continue showing this form, Mauricio Pochettino‘s men will be a real threat to most opposition this year.

Centre-Midfield – Mesut Ozil – Arsenal

The Invisible Man. That’s how some football fans label Mesut Ozil.

Ridiculous tag for one of the most gifted footballers ever.

You can call him invisible all you want, but yesterday he was simply class against Manchester United and it was probably his best performance in an Arsenal shirt.

Got the assist for the opener and then scored himself to make it 2-0.

His vision, his grace, his technique. Everything about him oozes class.

Left-Midfield – Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal

A hat-trick last week and two this week. He’s back alright.

A stunning footballer and arguably the best in the Premier League at times.

Alexis was questioned earlier in the season due to not scoring goals or getting involved in matches, but in the past week he’s scored six goals in three games.

His first was cheeky and his second was just class.

Alexis is well and truly back.

Striker – Graziano Pelle – Southampton

Another great performance from the Italian.

A goal and an assist at Stamford Bridge which helped Southampton win 3-1 against the Premier League champions.

For a big man, he’s so talented with the ball and his assist for Steven Davis was delightful. A little knock down off his chest into the path of the Scot.

What a signing he’s been for Southampton.

Striker – Theo Walcott – Arsenal

Theo Walcott‘s performance against Manchester United deserved a goal, but sadly he didn’t get one this time.

You can see how quickly he’s adapting to being a lone-striker and his performance yesterday showed signs of a real deadly forward.

His movement caused issues throughout the first-half and his two assists prove that he’s got the awareness around him now as well.

He used to get his head down and run and shoot, but now he composes himself, bides his time and has shown he can pick out the correct pass at the correct time.

When will Olivier Giroud get a start again? Not looking like it will be soon.

Striker – Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

We don’t really need to explain why we chose Sergio Aguero do we??

Five goals. You’re guaranteed a spot. Outstanding solo performance.

The only thing we can add is that it was tough to leave out other City players due to their emphatic 6-1 win, but we thought Aguero was enough considering he scored five of them himself.

Kevin De Bruyne could have been included, but Eriksen and Ozil were just as good and effective.

So there is the team.

A 3-4-3 formation for us.

What’s yours?
