Our Team of the Week after game-week 11

After yet another Premier League weekend of action, it’s time for SillySeason to put together their Team of the Week.

There is still one game left to come which is Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa, but for now, we will look into the star performers of the Saturday and Sunday games.

So without further ago, here is our Team of the Week.

Goalkeeper – Jack Butland – Stoke City

What a season this young lad is having!

He will surely be testing Joe Hart for the England number-one spot soon and he was on fine form once again on Saturday helping Stoke City secure a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United.

According to Fantasy Football, Butland made a total of six saves during his clean-sheet performance and he was one of the main reasons behind Mark Hughes‘ men coming away from St James’ Park with a point.

With Hart making a massive error for Manchester City at the same time, Butland could be closer than ever to the number-one jersey for his country.

Right-Back – Hector Bellerin – Arsenal

What a performance once again from this young right-back.

Hector Bellerin is slowly becoming one of the Premier League‘s best defenders and he was on fine-form for Arsenal yet again at the Liberty Stadium.

His vital tackle against Bafetimbi Gomis was a thing of beauty as he somehow managed to catch up with the striker in a matter of seconds.

Gomis was through one-on-one, took it round the ‘keeper only for Bellerin to somehow slide and take the ball away.

He then somehow produced a miraculous goal-line clearance as well, which resulted in him smashing into the post, which shows his dedication to the team.

He also managed to keep Jefferson Montero reasonably quiet which a lot of right-backs haven’t been able to do.

Centre-Back – Laurent Koscielny – Arsenal

Another fine performance from a top-class centre-back.

A goal against Everton which has now been followed up by a goal and a clean-sheet against Swansea City.

Koscielny is Mr. Reliable for Arsenal and whenever he’s in the team, the whole defence looks a lot more settled.

Vital that he stays fit for Arsene Wenger.

Centre-Back – Nicolas Otamendi – Manchester City

Nicolas Otamendi is finally starting to settle in at Manchester City and his goal on Saturday was a thing of beauty.

Left unmarked foolishly by Norwich City‘s defence, but it was a thumping header and it topped off his performance nicely.

Whether he will stay in the first-team for the long-run is yet to be seen, but things are looking good so far for the Argentinian.

Left-Back – Ryan Bertrand – Southampton

An assist and a clean-sheet rounds off a good weekend and performance for Southampton star Ryan Bertrand.

With Luke Shaw‘s serious injury ruling him out of the Euros next summer, the spot at left-back has become wide open for English players.

Kieran Gibbs and Bertrand are probably seen as the front-runners, but with the Arsenal star behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order, it’s seen as Bertrand’s to lose.

Another fine display from him gives him a big chance of becoming England’s regular left-back.

Arguably not tested a lot yesterday against a woeful Bournemouth, but it was good seeing him being a danger in attack.

Right-Midfield – Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City

What an unreal talent this guy is.

Everyone assumed his start wouldn’t be able to continue throughout the campaign, but he’s now on seven goals and four assists in 11 games and has been vital for Leicester City.

Another match-winning brace on Saturday as the Foxes beat West Brom 3-2 and Mahrez is already being scouted by bigger clubs.

Reports today have suggested Manchester United and Arsenal are keen on signing the Algerian.

Claudio Ranieri will want to keep this guy for the season though.

Centre-Midfield – Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool

A match-winning display at Stamford Bridge from Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian has been first to admit he’s been poor so far this season, but boy did he turn up against Chelsea.

A lovely finessed finish to make it 1-1 on the stroke of half-time and then a slightly fortuitous second to give the Reds the lead.

Coutinho was back to his very best on Saturday and Jurgen Klopp will hope it continues.

Centre-Midfield – Mesut Ozil – Arsenal

The invisible man strikes again.

What form this guy is in! He’s breaking all records, topping all the stats list and is thoroughly enjoying his football at Arsenal.

Two more assists on Saturday, setting up Olivier Giroud and Joel Campbell, makes it nine assists and one goal for the campaign so far for Ozil.

He’s finally showing his best form at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal fans are loving it.

Slightly attacking-midfield we know, but it’s the Team of the Week.

Left-Midfield – Gerard Deulofeu – Everton

Sunderland just couldn’t deal with the Spaniard at Goodison Park.

His pace was absolutely lethal down the flanks and with Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone ahead of him in fine-form, it was a destructive display from Deulofeu.

Despite his needless dive during the game, it was a performance that deserved a spot in the Team of the Week.

Two assists and a goal during the 6-2 romp of Sam Allardyce‘s men.

Striker – Arouna Kone – Everton

The Hat-Trick Hero.

Three goals and an assist for Arouna Kone means he is the easiest addition into our Team of the Week.

It was a deadly display from the striker and something we haven’t seen from him in a long time.

Kone is finally proving why Roberto Martinez brought him to Goodison Park from his former-club Wigan Athletic.

Him and Romelu Lukaku are really creating a forceful strike-partnership.

Striker – Romelu Lukaku – Everton

Speak of the devil, here he is!

Romelu Lukaku makes the Team of the Week just ahead of Watford‘s Odion Ighalo, who scored a match-winning brace against West Ham United.

However, the Belgium’s performance for Everton against Sunderland was superb with two assists and a goal.

As mentioned before, him and Kone are really starting to click together and they both lead our line in the Team of the Week.

So there is our starting XI.

Ighalo maybe unlucky to miss out after his performance against West Ham, and also David De Gea for his display against Crystal Palace, but we went with these 11 instead.

What would yours be?
