Southampton are preparing to finally bring Argentine defender Marcos Rojo to St.Marys.

The Saints made an official bid of £11 million, but only for it to be rejected with Sporting Lisbon after at least £13 million for their player.

Southampton boss Koeman is aware of his major need to bring in defensive players at the club having seen his squad take heavy hits in terms of losing star players.

It is understood that Southampton will meet the £13m valuation in the coming days, with Rojo himself making it known that he would be willing to leave.

“For now I intend to return to Sporting on the 30th July, and then we’ll see.

“It is a matter for the club and my representatives. I’m cool.”

The Argentine’s willingness to discuss a transfer will encourage most Saints fans, but interest from Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea will not.
