Southampton’s pursuit of Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena is over, after negotiations between the two clubs broke down.
The 20 year old is out of favour at Feyenoord, and appeared to be interested in linking up with former manager Ronald Koeman.
But the Dutch club revealed they would not let Vilhena go, without the guarantee of a replacement.
One deal that Southampton hope will go through before the 11pm deadline is that of Serbia international Filip Djuricic.
The deal is complicated with Djuricic currently on loan at Bundesliga side Mainz from Benfica, a potential stumbling block for the Saints.
