Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes has revealed that the Portuguese outfit blocked his move to Tottenham this summer.

Following a fantastic season where he scored 32 goals in 50 games in all competitions for the club, Fernandes was heavily linked with Tottenham and Manchester United this summer.

Tottenham especially had four bids rejected as Sporting valued him at £60m.

“As you all know, Tottenham made a lot of proposals for me. Everything was right with me – or practically should be,” the 24-year-old told GQ Portugal.

“I never made any big demands, my manager was always dealing with the financials. It was and is my goal to play in England, Sporting you know that, everyone knows that, and there were conditions for things to be done.”

“But Sporting understood that the value was not enough and I have to respect the decision.”

Fernandes is currently being linked with a €70m deadline day to Real Madrid as the transfer window draws to a close.
