Former Liverpool player, Steve Nicol, has tipped Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi to sign on at Anfield, and replace Christian Benteke at the club.
Benteke has slipped down the pecking order at Liverpool since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp back in October, and the 25-year-old Belgian international could be one of a number of players shipped out in the summer transfer window.
And Nicol, who represented the Reds for 13 years between 1981-1994 – has targeted Batshuayi as a summer replacement.
“He’s young, scoring goals in Ligue 1 – which doesn’t always translate into the Premier League,” Nicol said.
“He’s an up and coming player, he’s an international, he’s only 22, he’s got ability, and he scores goals.
“I think there’s a good possibility he goes to Liverpool over Spurs.
“I think there’s a good chance this kid goes to Liverpool as one Belgian will go out in Benteke, and another will come in, in Batshuayi.”
