Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has admitted that he fears losing striker Luis Suarez, if the club cannot win any silverware this season, or if they miss out on Champions League football yet again.

The Uruguayan was close to leaving Anfield this Summer after publically stating his intentions to leave during his time at the Confederations Cup.

However, two formal bids from Arsenal were rejected and the striker was forced to remain a Liverpool player.

Despite the club playing hard-ball and refusing to sell Suarez, Gerrard believes if they have another poor season, it could be curtains for Suarez’s career in Merseyside.

‘Luis is in good form. The team are playing well, so January won’t be a problem.

‘But come the summer, I think depending how Liverpool have done will determine what goes through Luis’s mind.

‘His goals, his performances and his form will be the key to whether we finish in the top four.’
