The 24-year-old has been struggling with a thigh injury and was restricted to a brief substitute appearance in the 3-3 draw at Everton last weekend but the England international found time to grab a last minute equaliser

But this week Brendan Rodgers announced that Daniel Sturridge could return to the starting line-up against Hull City on Sunday.

“He has certainly trained very hard this week,’ Rodgers told the LFC official website. “We’ve got another day to go prepare and see where all the players are at.

“I like to give all the players every chance to show that they can be in the team. He has worked exceptionally well and, when he does that, his quality is there for everyone to see.”

Jon Flanagan could continue at left-back following his display against Everton, although Rodgers can also call on Aly Cissokho in the absence of Jose Enrique.
