Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that the club will listen to offers that come in for striker Wilfried Bony.

The Ivorian international had a superb debut season with The Swans, and after continuing his form in the Summer World Cup, a couple of bigger Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old.

This news comes just 24-hours after manager Gary Monk dismissed all speculation linking the striker with an exit from the Liberty Stadium, and it will interest both Liverpool and Arsenal, who have both been monitoring the striker’s situation.

Both clubs are in desperate need of a striker, and after Loic Remy’s move fell through due to a failed medical, Liverpool are favourites to land the Swansea-man.

Reports broke out two weeks ago that Brendan Rodgers had actually held informal talks with Bony about a potential move, which angered Jenkins as the club didn’t give them permission to talk.

He said: “I have no idea about that. The only thing I’d say is I’m completely unaware of contact between Liverpool and myself.

“I was very surprised to hear and disappointed to hear that Liverpool had gone down that route and were talking to the player behind behind my club’s back.

“I’m disappointed that Liverpool are acting in that manner. No official approach has been made to me or our football club.”

However, he continued and admitted that if an offer comes in, he will hold talks with both Bony and the interested party.

“Wilfried Bony is a fantastic guy to have around the club.

“He was a great professional with us last season and he’s the same now.

“If a club come in for him, a top Champions League club, and put the right offer on the table he knows full well we will speak to him about that.

“We are open like that. I think we have to be. As much as we want players to stay with us, we’ve also got to be realistic with where we’re at and try to make sure we continue to bring good players into the club.”
