Alex Teixeira has today revealed his desperation to secure a move to Liverpool before the transfer window shuts.
The forward has been linked with the Reds over the past week or so and the club even made an official £24.5m bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk man. However, the bid was rejected, with the Ukrainian club holding out for their valuatuon of £38m.
It has left the 26-year old annoyed and frustrated at the fact he has yet to make the move and he himself claimed he was trying to be patient and wait for a deal to go through.
In an interview with Anfield HQ he said: “The team received one official offer from Liverpool. It was rejected.
“I don’t know why. It was a great offer. It is frustrating but the manager and club president decided against it so now I am just waiting. Trying to be patient.
“It (Liverpool) is a huge club so many great players have passed through there. It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt. I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool.
“I want to be there but that is up to the club president. Now I can only hope. I don’t know what else to say.”
The forward has been on fire for Donetsk so far this season and Liverpool remain keen to tie up a deal for him. However, if worst comes to worst, the Reds could leave the deal for now and return to try and sign the player in the summer.
