The defender will stay at Stamford Bridge, but at what cost?

It has emerged that Chelsea centre-back John Terry has taken a pay-cut in order to sign a new one-year deal with the club.

The former England captain will remain in West London until the end of the 2016-17 season, but he had to agree to a £90,000-£100,000-a-week wage drop in order to sign the fresh contract.

The 35-year old has seen his salary drop from £140,000-£150,000-a-week to £50,000-a-week to remain at his beloved Blues.

It is also rumoured that Terry knows he will not be a first team regular during the next campaign, following negotiations with new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and the club’s owner Roman Abramovich.
