Chelsea are champions again.

While various fans and pundits alike have discussed what they feel is the sole reason for the clubs title triumph, we feel there are far more than just one singular reason that lead to Conte winning the Premier League in just his first season as Chelsea boss, thanks to a late Michy Batshuayi goal on Friday night.

So let’s take a look at the TOP 5 REASONS CHELSEA WON THE LEAGUE!

5 – THE MASTER TACTICS OF CONTE

Saturday September 24, 18:15 – This is when Chelsea’s season really changed.

As Michael Oliver signalled half-time at the Emirates Stadium, Conte knew the game was up, goals from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil meant defeat at Arsenal was now unavoidable.

But it was the reaction this brought from the Italian that will go down in Stamford Bridge folklore.

The 4-2-4 that had served Conte so well with Siena and Bari was out and a three-man defence – utilised dazzlingly at Juventus and with Italy – would be the solkid foundation for a goalless second half, and then 13 wins in a row. 13, in a row.

The system – and those who fit it best – has become set in stone.

Thirteen times in the league this season, Chelsea’s team has read: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso; Pedro, Hazard; Costa.

It is a solid system that has served the Italian well in the past, and has now once again given him exactly what he needs to succeed.

It’s very ironic that in a way, losing to bitter rivals Arsenal, was the best thing to happen to Chelsea this season – a real wake up call, that resulted in glory.

4 – N’GOLO KANTE

It is said that 70% of the planet is covered by water, and the rest is covered by N’Golo Kante.

The Frenchman had a fantastic season with last seasons champions Leicester City under Claudio Ranieri.

And as a result, he attracted interest from big clubs all over the world, but in the end it was Chelsea and Antonio Conte that secured the services of a man who would go on to be named the PFA Player of the Year.

And what a signing it has turned out to be for the Blues’.

Kante has been absolutely instrumental in Chelsea success this term, with both pundits and fans pointing to his performances as key to a wonderful season for Chelsea.

I bet Arsene Wenger really regrets “nearly” signing Kante now.

3 – VICTOR MOSES’ REBIRTH.

Nobody would have thought last season that Victor Moses would play a key part in a Chelsea title winning season.

The Nigerian international has been farmed out on loan all over the place since arriving at Stamford Bridge, and many felt his time was very nearly up.

It appeared to everybody that the next logical step for Moses would be to leave West London on a permanent basis, but Antonio Conte had other ideas.

Bringing Moses in and placing him in a wing back position turned out to be a very smart move indeed, with Moses, just like Kante, playing a very instrumental part in Chelsea glory.

2 – HAZARD AND COSTA BACK ONSIDE.

It appeared in Jose Mourinho’s last season with Chelsea, neither Eden Hazard or Diego Costa were enjoying their football anymore.

Both seemed to struggle in an abysmal season for Chelsea that saw them slip down the table all the way to 10th.

Costa struggled to score, and Hazard struggled to produce the sort of magic that has helped his side on numerous occasions.

Many felt that this meant for certain, we would see one, or both, of the Chelsea stars leave – but once again, Antonio Conte stepped in with completely different ideas.

Both have seemed much happier under the Italian, and despite reports surfacing all throughout the season that suggested otherwise, both players kept their heads down.

Costa was subject to speculation on a move to China, and while that saga does not seem to yet be done, both players focused on the task at hand – winning the silverware.

Only time will tell if this will last, but judging by Friday nights’ celebrations, both Hazard and Costa look very happy at Stamford Bridge.

1 – THE JOHN TERRY EFFECT.

When the news broke that John Terry would depart from Stamford Bridge, many Chelsea fans were heartbroken.

And along with that heartbreak came worry, with fans the world over believing that such news could unsettle the side, and even cause a collapse.

But it did the complete opposite, it inspired.

Every single player at Chelsea is aware of the legacy John Terry has at Chelsea, and every single one banded together to give the Chelsea captain the send off he deserves.

The celebrations on Friday night with the players throwing Terry into the air and catching him showed exactly what it meant to them all.

And even if not directly, it seems that John Terry has once again played a huge part in Chelsea claiming the trophy, for the fifth time under his leadership.

Captain, leader, legend, leaving..

But with yet another Premier League winners’ medal.
