Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that forward Theo Walcott will miss ‘a few weeks’ of action as he will have a small procedure on a minor abdomen problem.

The Englishman was mysteriously pulled out of the side’s clash with Stoke City on Sunday and the reason given was because he was ill, but after the game, Wenger admitted that he had no idea what was wrong with the 24-year-old.

After further examination of the injury, the physios at Arsenal told the manager that it would be best if he received treatment on the injury which will leave him sidelined until after the international break.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, Arsène Wenger said: “Theo will be out for a few weeks. He has developed some damage to his posterior abdominal wall. It’s not a hernia, but it’s a little structural problem in his abdomen.

“He will have the procedure in Germany on Wednesday and, because it’s so minor, we can begin his rehab immediately. We are pleased it’s being dealt with quickly and he shouldn’t miss toomany Arsenal matches. But he will miss the forthcoming international matches with England.”
