The Monegasques are in the 19th spot of the Ligue 1, battling relegation while a Patrick Vieira-led Nice side are 15 points ahead in the 6th spot. Henry’s frustrations are well warranted since 4 of his January signings which included his former Arsenal teammate, Cesc Fabregas was ineligible to appear for this fixture.
Monaco’s teenage defender, Benoit Badiashile headed in a goal to earn a point at home. Henry’s men had the advantage over Nice after Ihsan Sacko got dismissed from the game with a red card but could not carve out a winning shot.
The Frenchman was quoted – “We did not do enough. One point is not enough. We had the opportunity to score but we didn’t – it is not the first time. We woke up in the second half but they had 10 men. It is never easy to play against a team that is outnumbered.”
Patrick Vieira was equally disappointed with the result and added after the match, “There is a lot of frustration and questions also to be asked of the referee. The red card for Sacko is extremely harsh. I don’t understand it. I have watched it back and I don’t think that it is dangerous.”
“This red card had a big impact on us. At eleven against eleven, we would have been much better. We didn’t win. It is still a good point away from home, against a side in trouble and who really needed to win.”
