Which players earned the most points on the Premier League Fantasy game

Today’s top-10 for SillySeason is going to be a little different to what people are used to. Today we are going to look into the top-10 players who got the most points on Fantasy Football.

There are several websites that run this game, but we are going to use the Premier League‘s official website for the points and today we are listing the players that performed the best in game-week one.

If you are unsure on how Fantasy Football works, players get points for clean-sheets, assists and goals scored. Players also get bonus points for Man of the Match performances.

If you are a defender, you get more points for a goal than what strikers do. So for example, Vincent Kompany got six points for his goal last night, whilst Arouna Kone got four for his goal because he’s a striker.

But which players got the best points tally this game-week? It’s time to find out!

10) Andre Ayew – 10 points

Andre Ayew of Swansea City comes tenth on our list after he picked up 10-points on Fantasy Football for his performance against Chelsea.

The Swans drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge and the Ghanaian international bagged one of the goals for his new club.

As he is classed as a midfielder on the game, Ayew got five points for his goal, a further two points for playing 90-minutes (the rules of the game give a player two points for playing over 60 minutes), and he was also given a three-point bonus.

Adding all the points up together, Ayew got Fantasy players a nice 10-points in game-week one, putting him tenth on our list.

9) Philippe Coutinho – 10 points

Another ten-pointer comes in at number-nine as Philippe Coutinho earned himself a solid rating on Fantasy this week for his goal against Stoke City.

As a midfielder he got five points for the goal, he then got two points for playing over 60-minutes, a two-point bonus and also got one point extra for keeping a clean-sheet.

On the game, midfielders get one point if their club kept a clean-sheet.

Coutinho‘s goal over Stoke in the 1-0 win gave the Brazilian a solid opening game-week score.

8) Yohan Cabaye – 10 points

Once again a ten-pointer and this time it’s Yohan Cabaye of Crystal Palace.

A goal scored on his debut against Norwich City earned himself five points, and then he got a bonus of three and an extra two for playing over 60-minutes.

A solid debut for the Frenchman at Palace and a 10-point week on Fantasy Football.

7) Arouna Kone – 11 points

The Everton star breaks the 10-point streak after getting himself a score of 11 on Fantasy Football.

The Toffees striker got a bonus of three points after he scored and also got an assist for his side during their 2-2 draw with Watford.

Three bonus points, three points for an assist, one point for playing under 60-minutes and four points for the goal he scored.

Solid display from the often-forgotten man of Goodison Park.

6) Joe Gomez – 11 points

Another 11 points from a Merseyside player, but this time it’s from Liverpool as defender Joe Gomez racked the points up on Fantasy after game-week 1.

The young defender got three bonus points, four points for keeping a clean-sheet, three points for the assist of Philippe Coutinho‘s goal and two points for playing over 60 minutes.

Now yes that adds up to 12, but sadly for Gomez, he lost a point due to being yellow carded, taking his total from 12 to 11.

Not bad for your first Premier League game though.

5) Adrian – 11 points

The only goalkeeper to make our list.

West Ham United‘s number-one got 11 points on Fantasy after his clean-sheet against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The shot-stopper got four points for the clean-sheet and was rewarded an extra three due to bonus points.

He then got a further four with two coming from minutes played and another two coming from number of saves made.

Great display from the Hammers keeper.

4) Vincent Kompany – 14 points

Manchester City‘s centre-back earned Fantasy players a whopping 14-points after game-week 1 thanks to his clean-sheet and goal against West Bromwich Albion.

The Belgium made it 3-0 to City at The Hawthorns and that goal gave him six points. He got a further four for the clean-sheet and then two for playing over 60-minutes and and extra two for bonus points.

Good week for you if you had Kompany in your team!

3) Riyah Mahrez – 15 points

What a game-week for Leicester City and in particular Riyad Mahrez.

The midfielder netted a brace for The Foxes, earning himself 10 Fantasy points, which was then followed up by three bonus points for his performance and two for minutes played.

Mahrez wasn’t the only Leicester player to receive 15-points either.

2) Marc Albrighton – 15 points

Another Leicester play who got himself 15-points on Fantasy Football was midfielder Marc Albrighton.

His two assists during their 4-2 win got himself six points, whilst a bonus of two, two for playing over 60-minutes and an extra five for his goal took his tally to 15.

Not a bad first game-week for Albrighton, but not sure how many Fantasy players would have had him in their team.

In fact, only 1.9% of players chose him for the first week.

1) Yaya Toure – 16 points

The Leicester City duo were only beaten by one man. Yaya Toure.

The powerhouse Manchester City star netted twice during The Citizen‘s 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, which got him 10 points outright.

Add a bonus of three, two points for playing over 60-minutes and an extra point for the clean-sheet, you get 16 points.

Emphatic game-week from the Ivorian.

Chosen by 6.6% of players. They reaped the rewards.

So there were the best players on Fantasy Football in game-week 1. How many did you have in your team?
