Social Media is wonderful.

We all love it in our own ways, and what better way to indulge in arrogance if you’re a footballer, than to see how many millions of people follow and read anything you put up on the internet? So let’s count down, the top 10 most followed Footballers on Social Media!

NUMBER 10 – CESC FABREGAS

Chelsea midfield maestro is doing fairly well for himself in the followers count, racking up around 15m from both Facebook and Twitter.

NUMBER 9 – LUIS SUAREZ

The former Liverpool striker has racked up 22m in total, no surprise when you’re a Barcelona star!

NUMBER 8 – MESUT OZIL

The Arsenal and Germany star has 30m in total, which is no surprise given his time in Real Madrid in the spotlight, and now with Arsenal over in the Premier League.

NUMBER 7 – GERARD PIQUE

Another Barcelona star, the defender has 30.5 followers to his name, how many of those are football related, and how many are because of Shakira, are questions I’ll leave up to you to decide. (Satire, satire, please don’t get upset.)

NUMBER 6 – ANDRES INIESTA

With 37.7m, Iniesta is the third Barcelona star on the list, they certainly don’t struggle for attention over at the Nou Camp.

NUMBER 5 – RONALDINHO

Brazilian legend and former Barcelona and Milan star Ronaldinho has 46.2m in total, which is no real surprise when you remember what a legend of the game he really was.

NUMBER 4 – KAKA

Over his time with AC Milan and Real Madrid, Kaka has racked up an impressive 56.5m, and when you think back to him at his best, theres no wonder why.

NUMBER 3 – NEYMAR

He’s in the new xXx movie (no, not that kind.), countless tv advertisements, AND he plays for Barcelona, so it’s no surprise to learn that skill demon Neymar has 76.6m in total – a crazy following.

NUMBER 2 – LIONEL MESSI

Here is where things get predictable, Barcelona star and arguably the best player in the world Lionel Messi boasts 83.4m followers in total, which is incredible, but hes pipped to the number one spot by an old rival..

NUMBER 1 – CRISTIANO RONALDO

150.3 Million. Because of course, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Blowing the rest of the list entirely out of the water, Ronaldo’s following takes the cake.

Now we can all go and think about how insignificant our Twitter feeds really are, and wonder how we can get 150 million people to read what WE write online.
