10. Romario

Kicking of the list of the Top 10 Greatest Football Strikers In The World Ever is Brazilian legend Romario. Romario is a former professional footballer who notably played for PSV Eindhoven and also Barcelona back in the early 1990’s, He was one of the best strikers back then and still remains in the history books as one of the best strikers ever to play the game. He is also one of the very few players to score more than whopping 1,000 goals in their entire career.

Romario was part of the brilliant Brazilian squad that won the 1994 FIFA World Cup, he also took home the Golden ball that same year and was named the FIFA Player of The Year. He also has 70 caps for the Brazilian national team and scored 55 times for the Selecao.

9. Arthur Friedenreich

Arthur Friedenreich takes up 9th spot on the Top 10 Best Football Strikers Ever. Yet Another Brazilian on the list but this time it’s Arthur Friedenreich. Arthur Friedenreich was a Brazilian footballer who played for a number of Brazilian clubs, Arthur was born on July 18 1892 and died at the age of 77 in 1969, it might years ago but still the Brazilian is considered by many as one of the best strikers of all time.

Arthur was nicknamed ” The Tiger” and the ”King of Football” before Pele took up his title.

8. Fernando Peyroteo

Fernando Peyroteo was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a striker for Sporting CP and the Portuguese national team. The Portuguese only played for one club his entire career scoring 544 goals in all games he played. He won eleven major titles and was named the top scorer for his country on six occasions.

The Portuguese had the highest goal per game ratio of 1.68 which was the highest compared to Brazilian veteran Pele of 0.96.

7. Gerd Müller

coming at number 7 is Bayern Munchen veteran striker Gerd Muller. Gerd Muller is a German retired professional footballer who notably played for Bayern Munchen and the German national team, he also played for 1861 Nordlingen and Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Gerd Muller was renowned for his clinical finishing, especially inside the 18 yard box, he is regarded as one of the greatest football strikers ever.

The Former Bayern Munchen player scored 398 goals for Bayern Munchen in 453 appearances, Gerd also won 62 caps for the German national team founding the back of the net 68 times. Gerd Muller is the current assistant manager of Bayern Munchen II.

The Portuguese striker is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time after scoring 749 goals in 745 matches at club level and 41 goals in 64 caps for the Portuguese national team making it a total of 790 goals in his career. Eusebio was nicknamed ”Black Panther” which meant ”the King”.

Lets talk about his venomous right foot! Oh what a hell of a foot this player had not only did he have a powerful right foot he was also known for his speed, great technique and his athleticism.

During the 1966 World Cup he scored nine goals which was the highest by any player which helped Portugal reach third place. In 1965 he won the Ballon d’Or award for European footballer of the year.

4. Diego Maradona

Not exactly a striker but an attacking midfielder but still makes the list of the Top 10 Best Football Strikers Ever because he also played as a second striker during his football career. The Argentine could shoot from any position and scored some wonderful goals, he dribbled past defenders as if they where never there, not only was he good in front of goal but could also provide goals for other players on the team as he was playing a play making role in midfield.

He was joint FIFA Player of The 20th Century with Pele but many football fans, experts, football critics, former footballers and current footballers regard Diego Maradona as the greatest footballer of all time, is that right?.

He played for big European clubs playing for Barcelona, Napoli and Sevilla from the early 80s – early 90s.

3. Ronaldo

Ronaldo de Lima popularly known as Ronaldo is a retired Brazilian footballer who is regarded by many as one of the greatest footballers of all time by football fans and football experts and is popularly dubbed as ”the Phenomenon”. The Brazilian played for a number of top European sides during his playing career, playing for PSV, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid & AC Milan he also played for Cruzeiro and lastly for the Corinthians before hanging up his playing boots in 2011.

Ronaldo was the leading goal scorer of the FIFA World Cup with 15 goals since the 2006 World Cup when he scored his 15th goal before it was broken at the 2014 FIFA World Cup by Germany‘s Miroslav Klose who managed to score his 16th goal. Ronaldo could scored from any position and would play in any football team and could make a difference.

He is also one of the four players to win FIFA Player of The Year more than three times, alongside Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane & Cristiano Ronaldo. He also won the FIFA Ballon D’or in 1997 and 2002.

2. Ferenc Puskás

The only Hungarian player on the list. Ferenc Puskas was one of the best strikers of his time and one of the best of all time. Ferenc Puskas played for Budapest Honved and Real Madrid but spent most of his career at Budapest Honved where he scored over 350 goals for the club in the 1940s-1950s. Ferenc joined Real Madrid in 1958 he went on to make 180 appearances founding the back of the net 156 times incredible right?

Puskas won 85 caps with the Hungarian national team scoring 84 times for the country, surprisingly he also played for Spain making 4 caps but ended without him scoring a goal. In total the former footballer scored a total of 514 goals in 529 league appearances. In 1952 he won the gold medal with Hungary at the Olympics, he also won them a place in the final of the 1954 World Cup.

Unfortunately on 17 November, 2006 Puskas died at the age of 79 in Budapest Hungary.

1. Pelé

Finally the top dog on the list is no other than Brazilian veteran Pele. Pele is quite respected even today because his statistics show how great of a striker he was and definitely deserves the top spot on the Top 10 Best Football Strikers Ever. Pele scored 1281 goals in 1363 appearances during his playing career no other player has made more appearances that the Brazilian striker. Pele wasn’t the tallest of players definitely knew how to head the ball, he scored a number of wonderful goals including bicycle kicks during his playing career, he would also shoot well with both his feet like he never had a week foot.
