So with that said, it’s now time to look into the most expensive transfers that happened throughout the summer and Silly Season are going to highlight the top-10 most expensive buys this market. Silly Season have also looked into the Top 5 Football Transfers That Didn’t Happen in Time and the Top 5 Deadline Day Deals and Transfers.

Top 10 Most Expensive Signings – Transfer Fees 2015

Unsurprisingly out of 10 of the transfer, Manchester City are involved with three of them as they made three massive signings this summer in order to win back the Premier League title.  Alongside City are their local rivals Manchester United who feature in two of the 10 deals. So what takes up the rest of the list with Top 10 Most Expensive Summer Transfers 2015? It’s time to find out!

10) Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United (£25.8million)

Kicking off the list is French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin after he completed his transfer from Southampton to Manchester United.

The Red Devils coughed up £25.8million in order to land the midfielder from The Saints, fending off reported interest from North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The holding-midfielder has gone straight into Louis van Gaal‘s side, ahead of Michael Carrick and fellow new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger, proving how vital he could be to United this season.

At £25.8m, it’s a fairly hefty sum for Schneiderlin, but when you’re Manchester United, you have that kind of funds, and it’s not even close to what they spent on another summer signing.

Wait and see for that one.

9) Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid (£26million)

Outside of the Premier League for this one as Real Madrid coughed up around £26million in order to sign Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian international was strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool interested in signing him as a replacement for Steven Gerrard, but eventually the midfielder chose the Bernabeu.

The 21-year-old is predicted a massive future after shining at the San Siro, but with a wealth of options at Madrid already in his position, he could find it hard to break into the first-team on a regular basis.

8) Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich (£27.3million)

Another midfielder that was strongly linked with the Premier League that ended elsewhere.

Arturo Vidal was a reported target for Arsenal, but it was Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich that coughed up the cash to sign him from Serie A giants Juventus.

The fee is believed to be around the £27million mark, but Munich saw him as the perfect replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger, who left in order to join Manchester United.

7) Roberto Firmino to Liverpool (£30million)

Brendan Rodgers splashed the cash on two big signings this summer, as well as plenty of other new faces as well, and Roberto Firmino is the first one costing The Reds just over £30million.

Signed from Hoffenheim, Liverpool were quick to finalise a deal for the Brazilian, who was taking part in the Copa America for most of the summer, but they still managed to get the deal over the line after Ian Ayre flew out to Chile in order to finalise the deal.

Firmino was wanted by Manchester United, but it was their long-term rivals that got the deal done and it cost them around £30m.

6) Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City (£32.4million)

The first of Manchester City‘s three mega-signings is centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.

The defender made it public knowledge that he wanted to leave Valencia, and it looked all-but certain that he’d join Manchester United.

However, at the last minute, their local-rivals sneaked in and signed the Argentine from under their noses for just over £32million.

Despite not starting for Manuel Pellegrini yet since his arrival, Otamendi could be a crucial player in City‘s season as they look to win back the Premier League title.

He’s only the third most expensive signing City made this summer though.

5) Christian Benteke to Liverpool (£32.4 million)

Liverpool‘s biggest and most expensive signing of the summer comes in the shape of Christian Benteke.

The Reds were after the Belgium all summer, but refused to meet his release clause of £32.4million.

However, after they were informed by Aston Villa that the striker wouldn’t be sold for anything less than his clause, Brendan Rodgers stumped up the cash and decided to green-light the deal.

Benteke‘s move was funded by a mega-money move that happened earlier in the summer, which will come later on this list.

Patience.

4) Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain (£46.5 million)

Angel Di Maria has cost over £100million in just two summers.

Manchester United forked out over £60m for him last year from Real Madrid, and just 12-months later, he has now left the club and joined PSG for just over £46m.

Yes the Argentine failed to live up to his hype in the Premier League and was shipped out earlier this summer by Louis van Gaal, with the Ligue 1 champions agreeing to pay United‘s demands.

Di Maria admitted before he joined The Red Devils last summer that he was eyeing a move to Paris but due to Financial Fair Play, Laurent Blanc‘s men couldn’t afford a deal.

However, one year on, he has his wish.

3) Raheem Sterling to Manchester City (£50 million)

So that’s where Liverpool got the cash from for Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke.

Yes The Reds sold Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for around £50million after a long, drawn out transfer saga that took over the summer and most of last season.

Sterling told Liverpool throughout the campaign that he was ready to move on, and despite Brendan Rodgers‘ best attempts to keep him, the deal was finally struck after City launched a third formal offer.

It took it’s time, but it was finally done and Sterling became one of the most expensive signings of the summer.

However, he wasn’t City’s most expensive signing……

2) Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City (£54 million)

…..Here is Manchester City‘s most expensive signing this summer.

Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg was completed over the weekend after City agreed to pay the German side just over £54million.

The former-Chelsea midfielder returns to the Premier League in order to regain some credibility after his failed stint at Stamford Bridge.

De Bruyne made a name for himself in the Bundesliga and that earned him a move back to England with City prepared to splash the cash in order to sign him.

However, £54m was not the most expensive transfer this summer.

Oh no.

1) Anthony Martial to Manchester United (£59million)

The Antony Martial transfer is the most expensive transfer of the summer transfer window 2015. There is a lot of talk about how much this deal actually cost, but French media have reported that Manchester United are paying £59million for the teenager.

Yes you read that right. £59m for a teenager. Despite some reports claiming it’s just £36m, AS Monaco have told media outlets that United agreed to cough up just shy of £60m in order to finalise the deal for the young striker.

The deal makes Martial the most expensive teenager in football’s history, and to be honest, we can’t see that being broken for some time.

So there you have it. The top-10 most expensive signings of the summer.

Who got their value for money?
