We will look into which players OFFICIAL pages have the most likes counting down from number 10, to number 1.

10. Gerard Pique – 27.5 million

Kicking us off in 10th spot is FC Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique.

The Spanish international has 27.5 million fans combined from both social media sites Facebook and Twitter. Pique has 16.9 Facebook fans and 10.6 Twitter fans.

Pique is also well known for his successful other half, Shaqira.

9. Mesut Ozil – 27.9 million

Up next is former-Real Madrid star and Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil.

The German international completed a mega-money move from the Bernabeu to the Emirates in the Summer of 2013 after Arsenal splashed £42million on his services. Despite criticism in the English media, Ozil is still a regular in the Arsenal set-up and helped them end their nine-year trophy drought last season.

Ozil has a Facebook page with over 27.9 million fans.

Barcelona’s play-maker takes up 8th spot with a Facebook fan base of 23 million and 10.8 million twitter followers.

Iniesta is dubbed one of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game and has won numerous trophies with the Catalan side and also with his national team. The Spaniard netted the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup when Spain beat Netherlands.

The first of two Englishmen on the list is Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney.

Rooney has a Facebook fan base of 25 million fans and a Twitter Fan following of 11.2 million, totaling up to 36.4 million fans.

Rooney is also the captain of his national side.

Currently playing for Mexican club Querétaro, Ronaldinho Gaucho is arguably one of the best players to ever grace the football pitch  in history.

The Brazilian was renowned for his amazing dribbling skills and his ability to do incredible tricks with the ball at his feet.

Ronaldinho  has a Facebook page with over 30.7 million fans, and a twitter account with 12.1 million followers. Combined, he has a fanbase of 42.9 million online.

Ronaldinho was well known for his amazing careers at FC Barcelona and AC Milan during his time in Europe.

5. Ricardo Kaka – 53.9 million

In 5th is former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Ricardo Kaka.

The Brazilian is currently playing for Orlando FC in the Major League Soccer, a club he joined in 2015 after a fruitful career in Europe. Kaka joined AC Milan in 2003 for a fee of €8,5 million and won the Serie A title and Champions League. In 2007 he won the FIFA Ballon D’or for the first time before joining Real Madrid in 2009 for €65 million making him one of the Most Expensive Footballers in The World.

Now Kaka makes the list of the Top 10 Most Popular Footballers on Social Media with a Facebook fan base of 31.1 million fans and a twitter fan base of 12.1.

4. David Beckham – 50.9 million

David Beckham makes the list of the Top 10 Most Popular Footballers on Social Media with a total fan base on Facebook of 50.9 million.

Beckham does not have a twitter handle but his Facebook fans are enough to put him fourth on the list.

Beckham who officially retired from the game at Paris Saint Germain last year is now in the process of building his own team in America for the MLS league.

The former-Manchester United midfielder is dubbed as one of the greatest to ever play the game and undoubtedly has legendary status from across the globe.

3. Neymar Jr – 70 million

Some call him the ”Justin Beiber of Football” but this Brazilian star is one of the best young talents in the world right now and probably only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar Jr has a Facebook fan base of 51.8 million and 18.2m Twitter followers, meaning he has a total of 70 million fans on both social networks sites.

2. Lionel Messi – 76 million

Lionel Messi takes up 2nd spot on the Top 10 Most Popular Footballers on Social Media with a Facebook fan base of 76 million.

Messi does not have a twitter account but his massive Facebook following puts his second on the list and probably most impressive due to not having a Twitter platform.

The four time Ballon D’or winner has been in fantastic form for Barcelona this season and has helped them win the La Liga title and will be hoping to help them win the UEFA Champions League if they beat Juventus in Berlin next month.

Some say that Lionel Messi is the best player ever to grace the footballing world, and it’s hard to disagree.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – 138.8 million

However Messi is not the best in terms of social networking.

The Portuguese winger has a massive fans base of  138.8m fans on Facebook and Twitter making him the most popular football figure on social media.

Cristiano Ronaldo has 103 million fans on Facebook and 35.6 million followers on Twitter adding up to 138.8 for both social network accounts.

The three time FIFA Ballon D’or winner has been in form for the Los Blancos following his £80 million move from Manchester United in 2009 which made him the most expensive footballer at that time but that record has been broken by Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale who joined Real Madrid for £85 million in 2013.
