Which stars have not lifted the Premier League trophy in their careers?

The English Premier League. Arguably the greatest league in football and easily the most competitive, but because of that, it makes it even harder to win and more special when you do so.

However, for these 10 players, they have never got that winning feeling of winning the Premier League, and for a lot of them, they never will.

So without wasting anymore time, lets take a look at 10 of the best talents to never win the league in England.

Starting off with number-10.

10. Xabi Alonso

One of the greatest midfielders to play the game in some people’s minds. Xabi Alonso could pick a pass in any situation and he’s one of the greats to watch.

Alonso graced the Premier League for five years, from 2004 until 2009, but sadly during that stint at Liverpool, he couldn’t lift the Premier League trophy.

After spending five years at Anfield, he then moved to Spain with Real Madrid, where he spent five years, before he then agreed to leave in order to join German giants Bayern Munich.

The clubs he’s played for shows how much of a talent he really is.

9. Les Ferdinand

One for you slightly older folk as Les Ferdinand comes in at nine on our list.

Now retired and working for Queens Park Rangers, Ferdinand was quite the striker back in the 90s, but sadly for him, he could never get his hands on the Premier League trophy.

Ferdinand made his name at Loftus Road, before moving on to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Following his time at White Hart Lane, he then moved on to West Ham United, Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Watford.

Over 400 Premier League appearances, but no trophies to show for it.

8. Shay Given

One of the best goalkeepers in Premier League history.

Shay Given is still playing and going strong with Aston Villa despite being 39-years-old, but sadly for him, the Premier League title will avoid him.

After a superb career with Newcastle United, Given then moved on to Manchester City, before ending up at Villa Park, where he’s likely to retire.

Given spent 12 years at St James Park, making 354 league appearances.

 7. Gianfranco Zola

One of the most gifted players to ever embrace the Premier League.

The stuff Zola could do with a ball was unreal, but sadly for him, his time at Chelsea came before Roman Abramovich and before the trophies came on a regular basis.

Chelsea was Zola‘s only club in England and he spent seven years there, from 1996-2003.

The Italian made over 200 appearances for the West London club, but failed to win the Premier League title.

6. Fernando Torres

Sixth place comes Fernando Torres. One half of him was stunning in England. The other half, not so much.

The Spaniard was one of the best strikers in the Premier League during his time at Liverpool, but he failed drastically after his £50million move to Chelsea.

However, the striker failed to win the league at either club.

Over 200 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Chelsea combined before he moved to AC Milan.

5. David Ginola

Another fancy footballer who makes the list who failed to win the Premier League.

David Ginola was stunning to watch on his day back in the 90s, but despite his individual skills, he never managed to win the league with either of his four clubs.

The winger played for Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton, with his most successful stint coming in North London.

 4. Matt Le Tissier

Matt Le Tissier is rarely mentioned in terms of footballing legends, but he has to go down as one for his skillful nature and his natural ability.

The striker was a one-man club after refusing to leave Southampton, despite Manchester United calling for his services at one point throughout his career.

From 1986 until 2002, Le Tissier stayed at St Marys and made over 400 league appearances for the club.

However, The Saints have never won the Premier League.

3. Gareth Bale

When Gareth Bale was first on the scene at White Hart Lane, he was a losing magnet. He was used at left-back and every time he played, Spurs would lose.

However, that drastically changed in one season and he turned into one of the world’s best wingers before finalising a move to Real Madrid.

Bale became the most expensive player when he secured to switch to Spain, toppling what the club paid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite his impressive performances in England, Bale couldn’t spur Tottenham to a Premier League title win.

2. Jamie Carragher

Another Liverpool star that has failed to win the Premier League. Sorry Liverpool, but you have had some great players over the years.

Liverpool famously have not won the Premier League, so a lot of their legends and top players have missed out on lifting the infamous trophy.

Carragher comes in at number-two after failing to lift the title throughout his long-lasting career. One of the best centre-backs in his generation, but sadly, a defender that couldn’t lift the title.

Despite this, Carragher is not number one on the list…..a loyal team-mate takes that spot….

1. Steven Gerrard

…..Yes it’s Steven Gerrard at number-one!

One of the greatest players to ever play in the Premier League, and arguably the greatest midfielder, but due to his loyalty to Liverpool, he has never lifted the trophy.

The Reds came ever so close to winning it in the 2013/2014 season, but a costly Gerrard slip against Chelsea and then a collapse against Crystal Palace gifted the title to Manchester City.

Gerrard has now left Liverpool for the MLS and will never win the Premier League.

Ouch.
