Which strikers have impressed this season?

With just one game left of the 2014/2015 Premier League campaign, we thought we would take a look at the 10 most impressive strikers of the season.

It’s been yet another fantastic season for the top-flight of English football and with just one game left, it’s time to look back at who has stood out during the campaign.

Here is SillySeason’s list of the best strikers in the Premier League this season.

10. Papiss Demba Cisse – Newcastle United

Kick starting the list Top 10 strikers in The Premier League At The Moment is Newcastle United talisman Pappis Cisse.

Despite the club being in the relegation battle going in the final game of the season, Cisse has been a stand-out figure for The Magpies and without his 11 goals this season, who knows where Newcastle could be.

They host West Ham United on the final day knowing that a point should be enough to keep them safe, unless Hull City can overcome Manchester United.

Although they could be a relegated team, Cisse has had a solid campaign.

9. Graziano Pelle – Southampton

In 9th is Southampton’s new signing Graziano Pelle.

The 29 year old joined the Premier League club in the Summer transfer window for a fee of ₤8 million from Dutch side Feyenoord.

To many fans, the Italian was an unknown figure, but with Ronald Koeman at the helm, he knew all about the striker from his Dutch days and a return of 12 goals in his debut season in England is mighty impressive.

The Saints were heavily predicted for relegation after their Summer exodus of stars, but Pelle and other new-faces fired Koeman’s men to the European spaces.

8.Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

Despite spending the majority of the season in centre-midfield, Wayne Rooney of Manchester United makes our list.

It was no surprise that United started winning games when Louis Van Gaal pushed Rooney up-front as a lone striker because in a matter of seconds he can change a game.

With Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao struggling all season, Rooney has spearheaded the United front-line and his 12 goals have been enough to bring Champions League football back to Old Trafford.

7. Saido Berahino – West Bromwich Albion

No doubt this young man definitely has to be on this list.

Saido Berahino has been in great form for West Bromwich Albion throughout the season and has already been touted with a mega-money move elsewhere.

Berahino has scored 14 goals for The Baggies in the Premier League this season and will finish the campaign as the club’s top goalscorer.

6. Christian Benteke – Aston Villa

What a bizarre season it’s been for Christian Benteke.

After a stunning debut season, the Belgium was linked with moves away to bigger clubs in England, but he remained loyal and stayed at Villa Park.

However, the first half of the season was one to forget for the striker as he struggled to show his debut season form. Then it all changed.

Paul Lambert was sacked and Tim Sherwood came in. The change was incredible. Villa went from relegation candidates to safety in a matter of weeks and Benteke kept on scoring.

13 for the season with 11 of them coming in recent weeks. After guiding them to safety, could Benteke fire them to FA Cup glory next weekend?

5. Olivier Giroud – Arsenal

Making the top-5 in the Top 10 strikers in The Premier League At The Moment is Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman has been in top form for Arsenal this season and has scored 14 Premier League goals. Not a bad record when you consider the fact he was out for three months with a broken leg.

Giroud suffered a nasty injury in August, but returned with a vengeance and was consistently hitting the net for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Still highly underrated within the league by fans and pundits alike, Giroud is slowly going about his business under the radar.

4. Charlie Austin – Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers talisman takes up 4th place on the list of the Top 10 strikers in The Premier League At The Moment.

Charlie Austin has been in blistering form for the Londoners and has scored 17 goals for Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.

However, sadly for QPR his goals have not been enough to save the club from relegation as they face playing Championship football next season.

QPR currently sit rock bottom of the table with just 30 points from 37 games.

3. Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspurs

The PFA Young Player of the Year Award winner sits 3rd on the list of Top 10 strikers in The Premier League At The Moment.

Harry Kane has scored 20 goals for Tottenham this season and is only behind Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot. However, a hat-trick in recent weeks has seen the Argentine go five goals ahead of the Englishman.

Kane is just 21-years-old and his debut season in the Spurs first-team has been on to remember, even if it tailed off at the end of the season.

Certainly one to look out for.

2. Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

Some would say surely the top goalscorer has to be first on the list, well you could have a point, but due to his injury-struck season, Sergio Aguero settles for second place here.

25 goals in the Premier League is another stunning tally for the Argentine and how he missed out on the PFA Team of the Year is an utter joke.

Injuries have dampened his campaign yet again, but it just shows how stunning a footballer he is when he can score 25 goals even when suffering from injuries.

1. Diego Costa – Chelsea FC

Aguero is only to be beaten by one-man and that man is Diego Costa from Chelsea.

The Blues didn’t win the league last year because they lacked a goalscorer. Jose Mourinho signed a goalscorer. They won the league. It’s that simple.

Sometimes players struggle in their first season in England but not this guy. 19 goals in the Premier League and a Premier League Winners Medal. What a debut season for Costa.

Yes he’s sometimes controversial on the pitch and sometimes not a nice guy, but there is no questioning his ability and his form this season.
