Known well in his home country as one of the great players back in the 1970’s when he played for Belgrade. He played 359 games and managed to score an impressive 50 goals as a defender. History was made when the footballer moved to Manchester United, becoming the first Yogoslav footballer to play for the Red Devils. Despite his big money move, Nikola Jovanovic’s performance at United was really poor and most would say, he turned out to be one of the top-5 worst defenders ever to play for Manchester United.
The presenter and football analyst at sky sports Chris Kamara. The former footballer, known for his jokes displayed at sky sports has had one of the worst careers ever. Playing for the lower leagues showed him off as a decent player but as he went on to play among the big teams, watching him struggle was nearly unpleasant. After all the struggle as a footballer, Kamara was promoted to assistant manager for Bradfort City in 1995 shortly after being signed as a player in 1994.
Sebastien Squillaci, a French professional footballer who currently plays for Bastia in the Ligue 1 can also be classified as one of the worst footballers in football history. His 3 seasons at Arsenal and making only 23 appearances gave him enough time to display his failure as a player despite showing potential as a really good player at the start of his first season at Arsenal. A lot of defense errors is mostly what he showed mostly which led to the mystery of why was signed off for only 4 million Euros by Sevilla.
Since the last 6 years, Savio Nsereko has managed to move from club to club 11 times already and looking at that number, it clearly shows that he has failed in every single one of them. Its funny West Ham United paid £9 million for this player on dependent on appearances and yet got a player who is arguably one of the worst. Despite having scored 3 senior goals and showed potentials of being a really good player, Nsereko surprised West Ham United as he turned into his worst form during his years at the club.
Coming down to number 5 of Top 10 Worst Footballers Ever is an England former professional footballer, Gus Caesar. In 1988 during the Football League Cup finals when he played for Arseanl, Caesar miskicked the ball from his own penalty spot and gave way for the opposing team to make a last minute goal and they lost 3-0 to Luton Town. Up to now, the incident is still known to hurt make some Arsenal fans and has been recorded as on of the worst performances ever displayed at the Football League Cup Finals.
At number 4 sits the former Dutch professional footballer, Marco Boogers. During his entire career, the time he spent at West Ham United was clearly the worst of all. Most people would blame the manager of West Ham United at that time, Harry Redknapp for signing a player who he had not seen play and as reports say, had believed that he would score a lot of goals for the team. Marco Boogers was by far the worst player ever signed by West Ham United which clearly explains why he only made 4 appearances during his time at the club.
Benjamin Telechea, the Spaniard known for his one season in top flight football as a defender. During this period, his team lost 23 games out of a total of 30 game played and conceded 134 goals. Most of people would blame the defenders for such a large number of goals conceded, especially Benjamin Telechea for he had not shown any potential in being a worthy player in fact up to now, no information about his career is stated at Wikipedia.
The successor to Manchester United’s goal keeper Peter Schmeichel. Manchester United signed Massimo Taibi for £4.5 million. His first appearance at United sent a very clear signal of what kind of goal keeper the club had signed when he flapped at Sami Hyypiä’s free kick in the game against Liverpool. Massimo impressed Manchester when he made several serves in a game were the club won 3-2 and Taibi was warded the player of the match for saving a one-on-one ball against Vladimír Šmicer but still did not do much good performance for United and the club can surely add Massimo to the record of the worst goal keepers signed for he only made 4 appearances at the club.
Finally we are down to the number 1 on the list of the Top 10 Worst Footballers Ever, Ali Dia. Almost everyone can agree that Dia’s story of the way he got a one month contact from Southampton is the best. Records show that Southampton’s manager at that time Graeme Souness was convinced to sign Ali Dia, by his friend whosomehow managed to convince the manage that it was the legendary stiker George Weah speaking on the other end and surprising after a believed 32 minutes convinced Graeme Souness to sign Ali Dia for a one month contract. Ali Dia only made one appearance for Southampton which he only had 32 minutes to prove being arguably the worst player ever signed.
