SillySeason’s five deals set to be finalised

With the transfer window in full swing, club’s are stepping up their activity and are making formal moves for their transfer targets with some clubs already being very busy.

Liverpool have added six new faces, Manchester United have added two and are set to add a third, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal have added one.

Several other Premier League sides have also been busy in the window and with just over a month and a half left in the window, more deals are expected to happen.

However, these are SillySeason‘s five deals that are set to be announced sooner rather than later.

5) Glen Johnson to Stoke City

This one is officially a done deal subject to a medical and all the paperwork.

Glen Johnson left Liverpool at the end of the season after his contract expired at Anfield and it’s been revealed that he has agreed to join Stoke City.

Mark Hughes confirmed the deal and praised the right-back, admitting he will add much needed experience to his back-line ahead of next season.

Ironically, Johnson‘s first competitive game for The Potters will be against his old-club Liverpool on the opening day of the Premier League season at the Britannia Stadium.

The right-back will be a free transfer due to being without a club.

4) Asmir Begovic to Chelsea

Another deal involving Stoke City, but this time it’s a departure as Asmir Begovic closes in on a move to Chelsea.

The Bosnian has been linked with Stamford Bridge ever since Petr Cech agreed to join Arsenal for £10.9million earlier on in the summer.

The Blues are in the market for a new number-two and Begovic is the man Jose Mourinho wants.

Stoke have acted fast in replacing Begovic by signing Shay Given from Aston Villa, which was announced last week, and Mark Hughes has since confirmed that he expects the ‘keeper to travel to London soon in order to hold formal talks.

Hughes also believes Begovic will provide healthy competition for Thibaut Courtois.

3) Robin Van Persie to Fenerbache

Maybe one of the weirdest transfers of the summer, but after an injury-plagued season and a drastic loss of form, Robin Van Persie‘s Premier League days look over.

The Dutchman has already been pictured in Turkey by Fenerbache, and it’s now just the medical and the paperwork that needs to be completed before the deal can be announced.

Van Persie has left Old Trafford in controversial circumstances, accusing Louis Van Gaal and the club of betraying him throughout last season.

A deal is expected to be announced next week.

2) Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United

Another deal we didn’t expect to happen this summer which has happened is Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United.

The German midfielder has been linked with United for the past several seasons, but finally, it’s happening after both clubs confirmed the deal yesterday.

Schweinsteiger has arrived in England and will now undergo a medical at Old Trafford before signing the appropriate paperwork to seal the deal.

Both clubs have announced the deal is in place, so it’s just left to the medical and the personal terms before this deal can be officially finalised.

1) Raheem Sterling to Manchester City

The saga that just won’t go away. Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.

This deal took a massive step closer to being finalised today after Sterling was left in England for the pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.

Sterling was initially named in the 30-man squad, but it was revealed today that he won’t be joining his team-mates on the tour and will be staying at home.

After that was revealed, news then broke that Liverpool and City are now in advanced talks about the winger’s future.

Two bids have already been declined, but reportedly a third and final offer will be made in the next few days. Believed to be around £44million.

So there are five deals that should be announced and finalised sooner rather than later.

Who else do you think will complete moves this summer?
