We look at first-team players who need to leave Stamford Bridge

With the transfer window officially opening today, plenty of deals are expected to be finalised and announced in the next few days and weeks.

Some clubs have already been busy, with Liverpool signing five, Arsenal signing Petr Cech and Manchester United signing Memphis Depay, but some other clubs will wait a bit longer until the right person comes about.

However, as well as signing players, clubs need to sell players too and in this article, we are going to focus on five players that should leave Chelsea Football Club.

It’s tough breaking into the champions’ first-team and it’s even harder to cement a spot in it, but for these five players, SillySeason feel it’s beneficial for them to leave Stamford Bridge and resume their career elsewhere.

So lets start the top-five list off.

5) Filipe Luis

The left-back only arrived at Chelsea last summer, but it’s clear he’s not first-choice material and it doesn’t look like changing for the season ahead.

Chelsea brought the defender from Atletico Madrid, joining Diego Costa, but unlike the Brazilian striker, the Spaniard has failed to settle in England and has struggled to impress at The Bridge.

Luis is seen as a back-up option at left-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta the preferred choice, despite him being a natural right-back.

According to numerous reports, Luis could already be on his way back to Spain with Atletico keen on resigning him.

4) Ramires

According to reports, the Brazilian has been offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge, but if he has any sense, he will reject the contract and move on.

The centre-midfielder has struggled for first-team football over the last season, with Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas creating a formidable partnership in the heart of the midfield.

Ramires is seen as a back-up option to Jose Mourinho and would be playing most of his games from off the substitute bench.

However, the midfielder could choose to leave West London in order to play first-team football elsewhere.

Teams in Italy are reportedly interested.

3) John Obi Mikel

He’s been at the club for numerous years, but just like Ramires, he won’t be getting first-team football regularly at Chelsea if he does choose to stay.

However, it’s looking very unlikely that the Nigerian will be staying at Stamford Bridge as a move to Inter Milan looks on the cards.

Mikel will struggle to break past Matic and Fabregas, and even if one of those does miss a game, Ramires is seen as the third-choice centre-midfielder.

Another midfielder who should seek a Chelsea exit.

2) Loic Remy

Another player that’s only been at Chelsea for one year, but another one who should seek an exit already.

Remy was seen as back-up to Diego Costa last season, but was second-choice ahead of veteran Didier Drogba.

However, with Drogba leaving the club and Radamel Falcao set to join on a season-long loan, Remy will certainly drop to third-choice, meaning his game time will be extremely limited.

Remy is wanted by a couple of Premier League teams, with West Ham United strongly interested, and The Blues are already preparing for the Frenchman’s exit by plotting a move for Queens Park Rangers star Charlie Austin.

The striker is good enough to be first-choice somewhere in England, and it’s likely that he will leave this summer especially if Falcao does complete his deal.

1) Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian star was predicted a massive future after his glittering displays for FC Basel, but after completing a move to Chelsea, his career stood still.

Failing to break into the first-team and struggling for game-time, the winger was sent out on loan to Serie A side Fiorentina, where he showed his Basel form.

After enjoying a fruitful loan spell away in Italy, Salah is now desperate to remain with Fiorentina for at least another season.

Salah’s career has drastically stalled and he desperately needs a move away from Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.

So there are the five players we think need to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
