With just a few days left of the transfer market, what could happen?

The summer transfer window slams shut in just five days time, so SillySeason are now going to look at five transfers that could happen before September 1.

It’s been a fairly quiet summer so far in terms of money spent, but Manchester United and Liverpool have done their best to keep us entertained throughout by signing several new faces.

Manchester City have splashed out on two big deals in Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal have been relatively quiet.

However, with just five days left, we expect a few big-money signings to go through and these are the five we have highlighted as ones to watch and ones to expect!

Lets start the list!

5) David De Gea to Real Madrid

This transfer saga has quietened a lot in recent weeks, but SillySeason still expects something to happen between now and Tuesday.

Louis Van Gaal has kept David De Gea out of his first-team so far this season, using Sergio Romero as the number-one which leaves the Spaniard’s future still uncertain.

Madrid are desperate to sign the shot-stopper and could offer up to £33million in order to land him before the deadline shuts.

Iker Casillas has joined FC Porto and Madrid officials have always highlighted De Gea as the long-term replacement.

With United not playing him and leaving him out of the match-day squad, does that suggest they know something will happen? Or is it just a way to keep him out of the spotlight?

Whatever the reasons, we think something could happen before September 1.

4) Paul Pogba to Chelsea

Possibly the biggest transfer of the summer if it materialises.

A lot of speculation has grown in recent weeks, with some reports suggesting that Chelsea have already had one formal bid rejected by the Serie A champions for the powerhouse.

Juventus haven’t commented about Pogba‘s future, and are still choosing to remain silent on the matter, but with Jose Mourinho being financially backed by Roman Abramovich, a large offer could be lodged before Tuesday.

According to reports yesterday, Mourinho has concerns over Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic, which could lead him to making a mega-move for Pogba.

£72million is the fee that’s been quoted if a formal move is done.

3) Edinson Cavani to Arsenal

Karim Benzema has said no to a move to Arsenal, so their attentions are now on Edinson Cavani.

Yes Arsenal have been in the market for a star-striker over the past few seasons, but each time they’ve expressed interest in someone, they’ve missed out.

Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez were the two targets over the past two summers and it’s now been Benzema and Cavani.

Well the Real Madrid star ruled out a move on Monday by claiming Spain is his home now, so that’s lead to Arsenal looking at Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguayan is still unsettled in Paris due to his role at the club, and a move to the Premier League could be an option.

The Gunners have the money and are expected to land a big-name before Tuesday.

Could it be Cavani?

2) Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City

Yep, Manchester City could be set to splash the cash one more time before the deadline.

£49million spent on Raheem Sterling and £28.5m spent on Nicolas Otamendi, however City are ready to bid higher for Kevin De Bruyne.

£54m is the fee reported and Manuel Pellegrini is willing to cough up the money in order to sign the Wolfsburg attacking-midfielder.

Although City are already well equipped in that department, Pellegrini is ready to go all-out to win the Premier League title back off Chelsea and De Bruyne could be the final piece of the jigsaw.

1) John Stones to Chelsea

It’s the transfer that should happen and most likely will happen.

Chelsea want John Stones. John Stones want Chelsea. Deal done right?

Well not exactly. Everton are still playing hard-ball. They’ve rejected two formal offers already from The Blues, and have now rejected Stones‘ formal transfer request.

The centre-back informed the club earlier this week he wanted to leave, but The Toffees turned down his request and have told him he must stay put at Goodison Park.

However, Chelsea are preparing a third and final offer worth around £40million.

This should be done by deadline day unless Everton can somehow resist the mega-money being offered.

So there are five transfers to look out for before Tuesday’s deadline.

What do you see happening before September 1?
