Reports in Italy claim the North London club are leading the race to secure the 28-year-old.
The former Real Madrid striker could be a target for Tottenham with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado both rumoured to be leaving White Hart Lane this summer.
Adebayor has been linked with a loan move to Aston Villa whilst Soldado could be set to join Sevilla in a £11million deal.
Napoli are reluctant to sell to the Spain international and Spurs manager Mauricio Pocchettino has been warned only a serious offer will tempt the Stadio San Paolo club.
Chelsea are also believed to be interested with the Premier League champions reportedly preparing a £15.5million bid, however manager Jose Mourinho appears set on finding a replacement for Filipe Luis.
The Portugese coach has admitted The Blues do not need to make any marquee signings this summer and the only necessary signing is a replacement for Luis.
However, the former Inter, Porto and Real Madrid boss did confirm his interest in Everton’s John Stones with the Toffees reported to have rejected a £20million offer.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez was upset with the decision by the Stamford Bridge club to publicise their bid for the England international.
“There is the disappointment of a club making a statement to the press and making it openly, we are not a selling club” said Martinez.
