Tottenham Hotspur have apologised to Liverpool Football Club after a tweet was sent out, from their official Twitter account, poking fun at the Merseyside club after their 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace last night.

The Reds had a strong 3-0 lead going into the final 15-minutes of the game at Selhurst park, but from out of nowhere, Tony Pulis’ side rallied back and struck three times to dent Liverpool’s title aspirations.

Soon after the game had finished, a tweet popped up from the official Tottenham account with the message: “brutal but very funny”, this also was attached with a vine of Luis Suarez crying at full-time after Dwight Gayle’s late equaliser.

The Liverpool striker was in bits at full-time and couldn’t be controlled by Steven Gerrard or Kolo Toure, and along with the vine from the Spurs account was the message: “The biggest capitulation since Newcastle in the 90s.”

Soon after the tweet was removed and the account then tweeted two messages apologising to Liverpool as they claimed their account was hacked.

“We are currently looking into a security issue where our official Vine account has been compromised”.

“We apologise to anyone offended by a recent tweet, which was immediately deleted. This post was not tweeted by anyone affiliated to THFC.”
