Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham remains unclear.

The England captain expressed his desire to leave the North London club earlier this summer and remains keen on a move to the Etihad.

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes Spurs should demand an offer in excess of £125million or a player included in the deal.

He said to Paddy Power: “When you see that Jack Grealish has gone from Aston Villa to Manchester City for £100m, the minimum that Daniel Levy and Spurs could accept for Harry Kane now is £125m, in my opinion.

“A player swap and cash could sweeten that deal, but there mightn’t be many Manchester City players who want to move to Spurs?

“Gabriel Jesus could be one, but would he really fill Spurs’ fans with hope that they’re getting a star player in exchange for losing a 30-goal-a-season striker? I don’t think so!”

“It has to be a player of real stature like Kane to win the fans over and fellow England international Raheem Sterling fits the bill.

“Any deal involving Sterling would get the Spurs fans’ buzzing and could prove very good business for Daniel Levy as the club look to pay down the stadium costs.”
