Red Devils ready to bring Benfica star to Old Trafford

Manchester United are reportedly working hard to tie down a deal to bring Benfica’s Renato Sanches to Old Trafford.

Any deal negotiated is expected to be worth around £46million, but manager Louis van Gaal is concerned that, should United fail to secure Champions League football qualification for next season, the deal might collapse.

Defeat at Tottenham on Sunday really put that in doubt, as a poor United side were swept aside by Spurs, and fell to a 3-0 defeat at White Hart Lane. They now sit 4 points off Manchester City with 5 games left to play.

Sanches has enjoyed a strong breakthrough season in Portugal, getting goals and assists and contributing to a good season for Benfica.
