Louis van Gaal is on the brink of another transfer

According to reports in Argentina, Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi will join Manchester United for around £36 million.

Argentine media outlet Diario Ole have suggested the deal is almost done, with Otamendi close to signing a contract at Old Trafford. He will become the Red Devils’ second summer signing following the capture of Memphis Depay.

The centre-half has a rumoured release clause of £36 million which United are set to meet, they can then tie down a long-term contract with the Argentina international.

International teammate Marcos Rojo is a pull factor

The 27-year old will link up with international teammate Marcos Rojo, who could partner him at central defence in the 2015/16 Premier League season; as well as in the Champions League following United’s return after a fourth placed finish.

Otamendi joined Valencia from Porto for £8.5 million in 2014 and has made 36 appearances for the Spanish outfit this campaign.
