Manchester United have been rocked by the news that star striker Wayne Rooney is set to miss their huge Champions League quarter final 2nd leg due to picking up a toe injury. The injury will certainly keep him out of Saturday’s trip to Newcastle, but a Tweet from the club’s official Twitter account has made it clear he could be unfit for the big game in midweek.

In a season full of disappointments for United, Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with the German champions was an uplifting turn of events for David Moyes and his team, giving the side the belief they could make it through to the semi’s.

Other injury news for United include Ryan Giggs missing out on the trip to Newcastle because of a hamstring injury he picked up against Munich, but left back Alex Buttner has responded well to a hamstring injury of his own he picked up against the Germans.
