Theo Walcott has held peace talks with boss Arsene Wenger as they try to complete a deal which will see the winger extend his stay at the Emirates.

It is actually the first time they have spoken about the contract since late August. This was when Walcott turned down a five-year extension worth £75k-a-week.

The talks taken place have not determined anything as of yet, but it seems to be a breakthrough for both player and the club.

Also in other contract news, it is growing ever more likely that FIVE players will commit their future to the club. British players; Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Carl Jenkinson are all expected to sign new deals in the coming weeks.

Despite not committing just yet, sources close to Walcott insist that the Englishman does want to stay at the London club, but he wants to be sure that he is granted his wish in being played as a centre forward, rather than a winger.

As the 23-year-old rejected a £75k-a-week contract, it is believed that the club will not try and tempt him with £85k-a-week, which is nearer to the £100k-a-week mark which the player originally wanted.

In regards with the other players, it is reported that Jack Wilshere will be signing a five-year extension worth approximately £80k-a-week. The other players (mentioned above) will also be signing five-year extensions and will be paid in the region of £40k-a-week to £60k-a-week.

So with five Brits already penning their future to Arsenal, everyone will now be waiting to see whether or not Theo Walcott will make it six Brits.
