The goalkeeper appeared to be at the very back of a team dinner table but Meyer decided to pull the photo off the internet 24 hours later. Speaking about the allegations made against him, Hennessey was quoted – “I waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it and at the same time put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry.”
“It’s been brought to my attention that frozen in a moment by the camera this looks like I am making a completely inappropriate type of salute. I can assure everyone I would never ever do that and any resemblance to that kind of gesture is absolutely coincidental.”
Now it is being reported that the Wales international is being questioned by the Crystal Palace hierarchy as well. Hennessey has already lost his starting berth under Roy Hodgson and things could get more difficult for him at Selhurst Park.
The Eagles are in the 14th spot of the Premier League after last weekend’s impressive 0-2 win over Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.
