Hammers want to sign striker ahead of Chelsea

West Ham United have entered the race to sign Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri and are ready to hijack Chelsea’s proposed deal.

The Hammers are in need of more firepower in their squad, and Slaven Bilic has highlighted Calleri as a potential signing for the January transfer window.

Calleri has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, but Chelsea were believed to be the only team interested, with the striker’s Dad even confirming talks were ongoing.

Calleri On the Move

The 22-year-old is almost certain to leave the Argentinian club after seemingly bidding farewell on his official Twitter account, but as of yet, it hasn’t been revealed where he’s heading.

Chelsea and Inter Milan are the two strong favourites, but according to latest reports, West Ham have held talks with Calleri’s representatives.

It’s believed Inter cannot afford to finalise the deal, ruling them out of the race, but the striker could opt for Upton Park over Stamford Bridge with the chance of playing regular first-team football.
