Georginio Wijnaldum thinks his new side can challenge for the title next season.
The midfielder made the move to Anfield from Newcastle earlier this summer and feels that his new club is more than capable of battling at the top end of the table this coming season.
He isn’t the only addition Liverpool have made this summer – Jurgen Klopp has also signed Mane, Matip, Klavan and Karius.
All the new additions will be hoping that they can help fire the Reds back into the top four at least, with the club having only reached the top four once in the last seven seasons.
Wijnaldum said to the Liverpool Echo: ” Of course we can be serious challengers.
“If you play for a club as big as Liverpool you always have to be trying to win trophies – that always has to be the aim.”
It won’t be easy for Jurgen Klopp’s men to break into the top four or challenge for the title this year though – they’ll face the challenge of a rejuvenated Man United, Chelsea and Man City, not to mention Tottenaham and Leicester who impressed last season.
